This project responds to Belle Isle Park in Detroit, Michigan, where history, ecology, and community converge. Anchored by a vibrant native plant garden, the design maintains strong connections between interior and exterior spaces. Circulation guides visitors through interactive exhibits and research areas, fostering engagement with the island’s ecological and cultural heritage. Thoughtful materiality, daylighting, and landscape integration enhance the experience, while panoramic views—from Canada to the south, Michigan to the north, and Detroit to the west—highlight Belle Isle’s unique regional position. The project creates an immersive environment that celebrates the island’s past, engages its present, and envisions its future.
